March 10, 2013 – Bakersfield, CA
It has been one year since the Mr. Explosive car has seen the track. After the major setback the team experienced last year during the March Meet "The Force of the North", Mr. Explosive had plenty of time to gear up and plan for the 2013 season: coming out with an all new car, body, and outlook. With the NHRA sixteen car eliminator format, the car qualified 10th at the start of the weekend and went three rounds to the finals. Mark Sanders qualified #2 on Sunday night with a personal and track record 60ft time of 0.98, only to smoke the tires and fall short to the runner up.

After traveling down from Maple Valley, WA to Bakersfield, CA for the first race of the Nitro Jam season, the Mr. Explosive Team took an astounding 2nd place in the NHRA Heritage series (the March Meet). The new car also ran a career best for the Mr. Explosive team with a 5.76 at 251 MPH in the first round. "BaBoomski, we're back baby!" exclaimed Mark Sanders (Mr. Explosive) after the turn of this weekend's events. With the anticipation of the long awaited voyage and the results of this first weekend out with the new car, Mr. Explosive and his crew could not be more proud.

Watch for Mr. Explosive as he is going to be a sure hitter in this years line up. With the Mr. Explosive car headed to Chandler, AZ for a match race and then off to San Antonio, TX for a Nitro Jam race, be sure to check out www.ihra.com for race updates and their new live timing online at www.bangshift.com.

Sanders was out of the gate first and never looked back. His 5.87 at 242 mph defeated Romine's 5.941 at 240 mph.

"The 'Mr. Explosive' team is back baby," exclaimed Mark Sanders following his win. "We drove all the way across this great country to be here tonight and to get the win in front of these great fans is what it is all about. July 5, 2010

Wow! what a year the team has had so far. For the 2010 season the guys made some big changes to the car, and well it’s paid off. It’s been so busy around here there is hardly any time for anything else. After our final round appearance at the end of the 2009 season the team was ready to get that first win. With all of the new changes and parts for 2010 the team headed to Bakersfield to do some testing before the March Meet. testing went well and we qualified in a good position and went one round at the March Meet, but it just was not the kind of showing that we were looking for. With a few new sponsors this year from Torco Oils and Justice Brothers, the team wanted to show them what were made of. With the next race at the end of April back down in Sacramento the team went testing again and gained a few new ideas and they headed to Sacramento. After the tire smoke cleared Mr. Explosive was the big Funny Car Fever winner! it was quite the day for the team running a string of 6.0s all at over 245MPH!! With our first win finally in the books we were ready for Dragfest in Bakersfield the very next weekend. And once again like Sacramento Mr. Explosive was the big winner! What a way to begin the season with back to back wins.

The next race was held in Las Vegas, with the team fresh off two wins in a row, headed to Las Vegas in search of win # 3. After bumping our way in the field in the final session of qualifying, running 5.97 put us solidly in the field for Sunday. Well Sunday didn’t go to well after being shut off in rd 1 with a leak. The team was disappointed but we held our heads high. The team headed back to the shop to get ready for their first IHRA race in Salt Lake City. The format at an IHRA race is way different, with the fastest two winning cars from Rd 1 returning for the Finals and the Iron Man. With the corrected altitude being over 7000ft it made it a challenge. With an off the trailer 6.07 at 236mph was good enough for # 1 and it reset both ends of the track record!! That set us up for the final and a chance to earn our first Iron Man. With the cooling air the guys stepped it up and got the win and again reset the track record with a 6.000 at 240mph!!

After a great first night getting the win the team did it again winning the Iron Man two nights in a row!! With 4 wins this season already the team headed to Edmonton for another IHRA race, Edmonton started off with a struggle Saturday night but the team showed they can bounce back and they ran 6.01 at 245 in the first round Sunday, only to get edged out of the finals by a 5.99. But that didn’t stop them there was more left in the car and they wanted to show Edmonton that we could run a 5! With a few adjustments the team had the car ready and back in the lanes. With a flash of green the car left hard and ran 5.95. Even though Edmonton didn’t go as well as Salt Lake the team was happy to say they had their 5 second Nova back. With a very busy season ahead of them the next stop is back up to Mission B.C. So far the 2010 Season has been one to remember and its only half way through!! Mr. Explosive Racing would like to thank our sponsors: Torco oils, Justice Brothers, Production Plating, East West Engineering, Motorsports Unlimited and Performance Coatings.

2009 was a great year of racing for the Mr. Explosive Nitro Funny Car team racing a fiberglass replica of a 1970 Chevrolet Nova at nearly 250 miles per hour! Mark and Jody Sanders based in Maple Valley, Washington, own our team. Nineteen-year-old Crew Chief Jake Sanders built and tunes the supercharged nitro engines, building this car was Jake’s high school senior project. The team is built around having as much fun at every event as possible.

The Nitro Funny Car class is one of the quickest growing categories in drag racing today. We had a great time at the events where we raced in 2009; we are looking forward to the 2010 season and searching for sponsor help.
