Team History: Eakins Family Racing draster
Eakins Family Racing was established by Bob & Randy Eakins in 2012. This father and son team has been working together for over 30 years. They currently own & operate East West Engineering which produces performance racing clutches for many professional/sportsman teams across the country in all types of racing. They have been involved with many racing teams over the years but have always wanted to compete as owners with friends and family. He has been working in motorsports since the mid 1990’s and has tuned and consulted for many different teams. Like many drivers, Randy Eakins grew up at the race track. His father Bob was part of the Over the Hill gang that ran the iconic dragster in the 70’s and 80’s and later the In-N- Out Funny Car.

Eakins has enlisted longtime family friend Brett Johansen as a partner. Brett brings a strong racing background to the team. His grandfather founded Howards Racing Cams and his father tuned the Howards Twin Bear to the first NHRA National Championship in 1961 with Jack Chrisman driving. He later owned/tuned the “Howards Cam Rattler” to west coast fame with Larry Dixon Sr driving. Like Randy, Brett has tuned many different many different types of race cars and won the 2008 NHRA Heritage Nostalgia Top Fuel Championship. The team is rounded out with family and friends with a deep heritage in drag racing as well as some future drag racers. EFR is truly a family team and is driven to be the best we can be.
